# How to learn dance at home

You can learn dance at home on a week when the studio is closed, the class is full, or there is no class near you. The useful session is short. Ten or fifteen minutes on one phrase beats an hour of restarting a whole song.

**Takeaway.** Clear a little floor, import a clip you are allowed to use, and drill one section slowly before you try it at full speed. A teacher still matters for style. This is how you practise between lessons.

## What you actually need

A clear patch of floor, shoes you can move in, and a video already on the phone. That is the whole kit. A barre, a sprung floor, and a wall of glass are nice in a studio. They are not the thing that makes Tuesday's practice happen.

If the room is small, pick a phrase that travels less. Push the chair back, roll the rug, and keep the phone where you can see it without leaning over a table. Dancing at home without equipment is normal. The constraint is space and attention, not gear.

## How to practise alone

Alone is awkward at first because nobody counts you in and nobody laughs off a missed turn. Name one aim before you press play: the feet, the arms, or the facing. Write it in a note on the clip if you will forget it tomorrow.

Watch once without dancing. Then copy once, slowly. Then loop the bars you lost. Stop when the phrase is messy in a new way rather than the same way. That is a real practice, not a failed class.

## A first session if you are starting as an adult

How to start dancing as an adult is mostly a question of shame, not talent. You do not need a childhood of exams. You need a phrase short enough to remember and a speed slow enough to see the weight shift.

Self taught dancers improve by repeating a correction they can name. 'My right foot was late' is a practice note. 'I am bad at dance' is not. If you have never taken a class, stay with one tutorial for a week before you collect ten more.

## Learning from the phone, including घर पर डांस कैसे सीखें

डांस कैसे सीखे मोबाइल से means the same job: the lesson is a video on the phone, and the room is the house. dance kaise sikhe ghar pe and ghar pe dance kaise sikhe are the Hinglish versions of that question. The steps are identical. Choose the clip, match one side cue, loop the hard bars, then bring the speed back up.

The app menus are English in this release. A Hindi question on this page does not mean the buttons have been translated. If you want a teacher who speaks your language, that is a class. The phone can still hold the clip they send you.

## After you stop

Write down the one correction before you leave the room. Tomorrow you will not remember whether the problem was the foot or the facing, and you will waste the first five minutes finding it again. A note on the clip is enough. A diary is optional.

If the session felt like nothing happened, look at the clock. Ten honest minutes on one phrase is a practice. An hour of collecting new videos is not. Come back to the same phrase once more before you decide you need a different song.

Stop while the correction still has a name. Write the count that broke, the side you chose, and the speed you could actually dance. Put that note on the clip itself so you do not trust your memory in the morning. Read it once before you press play. The next session starts there. A fresh video, a new song, or another half hour of watching is how that note gets lost. The phone will still have the clip tomorrow. You do not need a longer session. You need the same bars, slightly cleaner than today. Do that before you close the app.
