# Learn a dance from a saved video

Learn a dance from a saved video when the clip is already on the phone. A normal player will fight you: the side is wrong, the chorus is fast, and the scrubber jumps to the wrong bar. Import the file, then change the playback. Leave the file where it was.

**Takeaway.** Save a movie you are allowed to practise with, open it from Photos or Files, and drill one section. Dancer Mirror does not pull videos out of other apps.

## Why a normal player fights you

A normal player is built for watching. Dance practice needs a fence around four bars, a slower picture, and a flip that does not rewrite the file. Hunting those as three separate tools is how a Tuesday disappears.

People often learn a dance from YouTube, and Dancer Mirror does not connect to YouTube, does not download YouTube videos, and does not promise playback of a pasted link. If you already have a file you may use, import that file.

## Slow, flip, loop, in that order

Flip first if left and right are the confusion. Slow first if you cannot see the feet. Loop once you know which bars are the problem. Doing all three at once on a brand new song is a lot of switches and very little dancing.

A short viral dance can be one loop. A full routine is a chain of loops. Finish one eight before you add the next. The counts page is there when the music will not tell you where 1 is.

## A short dance and a long routine

The same is true of TikTok: Dancer Mirror does not connect to TikTok and does not download a TikTok dance. People still want to learn a short phrase they have saved. Treat it as one section. Quarter speed, a mirror check, then full speed. That is the whole method.

A three-minute routine needs marks. Title the sections in your own words, 'turn into the corner', 'hands after the drop', so you can jump back tomorrow without scrubbing from zero.

## Short clips people browse

People browse short dances on Instagram, and Dancer Mirror does not connect to Instagram and does not download a reel. Browsing is not practice. Practice starts when a file you may use is on the device and you can loop it.

If you do not have rights to keep a copy, do not keep a copy. Find a lesson you are allowed to download from the person who made it, or film your teacher with their permission. The player will not invent permission for you.

## After you stop

Put the file somewhere you can find tomorrow. A download folder with forty unnamed movies is how people end up practising the wrong cut. Rename it with the phrase and the date. The player cannot do that thinking for you.

If you only have a link and no right to keep a copy, stop. Ask the person who made the lesson for a file, or film your own class with permission. A practice player is not a way around that.

Stop while the correction still has a name. Write the count that broke, the side you chose, and the speed you could actually dance. Put that note on the clip itself so you do not trust your memory in the morning. Read it once before you press play. The next session starts there. A fresh video, a new song, or another half hour of watching is how that note gets lost. The phone will still have the clip tomorrow. You do not need a longer session. You need the same bars, slightly cleaner than today. Do that before you close the app.

Practise the side you see. Download from the stores linked on the download page.
